Every month we add new, innovative fonts and sign up new foundries. In the December 2006 Rising Stars, we show you our top-selling new fonts, including:

Laramie Pro is a distinguished contemporary and versatile script font with approximately 1,500 characters including Western European, Eastern European, Baltic, Turkish, and Romanian.

Silk Script is a graceful font, perfect for invitations and other projects requiring a touch of elegance. It’s available in two separate styles, Silk Script and Silk Script Alt. However, Silk Script Pro unifies both styles in one font, providing 550 characters of sheer elegance.

Joanne Script is an informal handwriting design. This fun font has a sharp, angular feel, which lends itself to casual messages, greeting cards, post-its, journals, you name it!

Aquiline is based on a cursive italic style, meaning writing that was done fairly quickly but skillfully with a square-edged nib. Aquiline has a strong personality and works well for invitations and projects requiring legibility, elegance — and a little bit of adventure.

November 2006 Rising Stars

Camingo is a highly legible, modern sans serif typeface. Designed for the needs of editorial and corporate design Camingo is not only suited for large texts in small sizes, but is also robust enough to make your headlines stand out. Camingo comes in seven weights. The Camingo OpenType fonts contain a whole slew of typographic features including small caps, fractions, numeral variations, ligatures, and alternate glyphs.

Graphic Stylin is a decorative, stencil script with an old timey feel to it. It works well for headlines and poster art. Included in the font are several handy ink blots, a stylish tailpiece, and two ink bottles. Graphic Stylin is sure to give your projects some pizzazz!

TheNautigal is a contemporary script style, fashionable yet formal with beautiful connectors. It’s great for both casual use and sophisticated projects!

Yevida is a script font with a slightly Arabic twist. It includes a number of advanced OpenType features, including alternates, ligatures, and old style figures. We like its elegant flair, which makes it perfect for weddings and invitations.

August 2006 Rising Stars

Boycott is a noisy design — a little rough around the edges, but just the way we like our big grunge fonts. Boycott is a perfect design for posters and large headlines.

High Society is based on a delightful, delicious, de-lovely offering from Blandford Press’s 1946 tome, Lettering for the Commercial Artist. The editor called this one “The Elegant Alphabet” and cautioned that it “being neither quick nor easy, needs to be used with discrimination.” Or not…. We like this elegant swash design because of its retro appeal.

Adagio Pro is a decorative script that works well for invitations. The design is from profonts, whose mission is to release a beautiful series of script and display designs from the past, in OpenType format, with all the features necessary for making scripts so easy to handle and so wonderful to print. We think this formal font continues the tradition admirably!

P22 Declaration features two lettering fonts based on the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The design has the look of classic 18th century penmanship with a slightly irregular edge, as found on documents made with ink quill pens on vellum or parchment. The Blackletter font is also derived from the U.S. Declaration of Independence, as it was used for emphasis and the famous document title itself. A third font, which features the signatures of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, is also included in the Pro set.

Hamptons BF is a beautiful new sans-serif named after the well-known New York resort synonymous with style and elegance. Though primarily a display face, Hamptons BF is also suitable for settings of large text. We like the graceful, art deco look of this highly legible typeface design!

Rooted in day-to-day handwriting, Swan Song is a quick and irregular artistic jolt at first impression, and surprisingly richly-textured art at second glance. Swan Song conveys the sense that the communicator is confident, humorous, strong and experienced. We think the reader will be glad to receive the personal contact of such a communicator!

ClickBits is a comprehensive set of web-related icons for online and print applications. If you’re looking for a web 2.0 starburst, icons for your blog, or graphics for your e-commerce app, ClickBits will have what you need!

Eye Catching looks like it was handwritten with a glitter gel pen on pink notebook paper. The font comes with Eye Catching Alts, a separate font with alternate starts, endings, ligatures, and more. The OpenType version includes alternate characters scripted to work automatically in OpenType-savvy applications. With so many alternates, people will be wondering if it’s real handwriting or a font!
